Type Locality and Naming

Along the Katadzhar Mountains, Zirabulak uplift. V.S. Korsakov et al., 1984

Synonym: Katadjar Fm, Katadzhar Suite, Катадаярская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Thin-bedded, dark, clayey, nodular limestones, gray dolomitic limestones, in the upper part dark-gray limestones with layers of pinkish-gray siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 70-200m.


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Daraitut Fm

Upper contact

Gradually transitions into the Terikbabin Fm

Regional extent

South-eastern part of the Zirabulak Mountains (Squallyaul, Jilga, and Sykpi regions), Turytau Mountains. Age equivalent of the Uchkuduk Fm. Kuldzhuktau. (165; 460).
